Through Prayer
Our thoughts are a little different today. I want to brag on what God is doing in Cummins Mill Church. For months, we have been praying for God to bless us. You know what?!? He has! He has doubled our attendance, souls have been saved, and He has led new believers to be baptized. We are not a large congregation, but God has seen fit to bless us mightily.
This is just the beginning. God has placed His Spirit of love and caring on us. He has given this little body of believers a great desire to know His Word. Our Pastor, Bro. Bill, has for thirty years pastored this church, and I can truthfully say, "He has done and is doing a wonderful job of preaching the true Gospel of the LORD, Jesus Christ."
And there is more! We are also in the beginning phase of a building program. Our vision is: if through prayer, through obedience, and through service, we build a building, God will continue to bring people to fill it, and souls will continue to be saved.
This is where you come in. No, we are not asking for money. What we want from you is more valuable; we want your prayers! We know that we have an adversary to contend with and we also know that he is powerful. But the truth is that the adversary is not more powerful than our God and through prayer we can overcome.
Please pray that God will receive the glory from all He is doing with in this little body of believers. Pray that we will continue in faith the work God has for us. Pray for great results that more and more will come to belief in the only one able to save, Jesus Christ.

My God Versus Your God
Hey friend what are you doing
are you talking to yourself?
I am praying to my god
see he is sitting on the shelf.
You have to be kidding me
he hears nothing that you say.
Now don’t go talking about my god
I just bought him yesterday.
I can’t believe you did that
you bought him at the store?
Yes there are plenty you can choose from
a hundred different ones, or more.
There is only one true God
and Him you cannot buy.
He is not for sale at any price
No matter how you try.
I tell you what we will do
we will compare yours to mine.
You will then see the difference
my God will win every time.
My Jehovah God is the creator
of the heavens and the earth.
Such special beauty He gave them
each day He spoke their birth.
Now tell me about your god
of the mighty things he has done.
Surely you can think of just one thing
can he talk or is he dumb?
My God is alive
He has always been.
And he will be forever
He will never see an end.
Your gods are made by man
of wood, stone, and clay.
You worship things made by people
There is nothing they can do or say.
Tell me how you can serve a god
that used to be a tree.
I didn’t make the God I serve
The one I serve made me.
There is no real competition friend
between your god and mine.
My God sees and loves me
and your god’s eyes are blind.
Just one more thing I want to say
and it will all be up to you.
Throw all your gods in the garbage friend
for you can serve the real God too.

The Peace of God be with You
You may not believe what I am saying, but to have the peace of God, one must have God in their lives- must be saved, born again spiritually. There are times that even christians do not have this wonderful peace. How can this be?
Philippians 4:8-9
Finally brethren whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, are just, are pure, are lovely, of good report, if there be any virtue and if there be any praise think on these things. Those things which ye have both learned and received and heard and seen in me, do: and the God of peace be with you.When one accepts Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, not only will this person become a child of God, but will also receive in abundance many other things that come with salvation, including the peace of God. The one thing we often miss in what Paul is talking about is “think on these things.” You see, when our minds are on worldly things instead of spiritual things, we rob ourselves of this precious peace.

I'd Rather Have Jesus
Do we pray on the knees of faith or the knees of doubt?
God says “Prove me, sayeth the Lord. I will open the windows of Heaven and pour you out a blessing that there shall not be enough room to receive it, and I will rebuke the devourer, Satan, for your sakes.”
This is a promise God has made to His followers, not only to bless, but to limit Satan’s attempts against us. To obey and serve God almighty are His requirements for us. God’s benefits are many and vary from tangible to intangible to spiritual. Our needs, plus our desires, are known to him, and His promise covers all these things. Like the song says:
I’d rather have Jesus than silver or gold.
I’d rather be His than have riches untold.
What about you, my friend? Are you struggling to get what the world has to offer? Are these things really worth the trouble that comes with them? Don’t be misled by what society calls success. Check it out; you may not like the price you have to pay for it. Worldly success doesn’t go beyond the grave, but all the works of believers in Jesus Christ will be rewarded in Heaven. I recommend Jesus above everything and anything we might achieve in this life. Surrender your all to Him, for He is the better way. His way is everlasting.

God's Warning Shot
It is the rule when the coast guard or any vessel cruising the waters with the authority to keep law and order see another vessel which looks suspicious and won't stop when ordered, a shot over the bow would be in order to get their attention. Question. Is this pandemic that we are having now God's warning shot to the world? Is God trying to get our attention? I am not saying that it is, only that it could be. For the last few months in our bible study class on Sunday mornings it has been mentioned that something of this order would soon happen. The prediction that when it does happen the church house could not hold all the people and services would have to be held outside. Are we there yet? This is not exactly what we were thinking but here we are folks. We are here by executive orders, not by choice, but just the same we are outside worshipping our God. I believe God reveals to His people this sort of thing so we can discern and prepare ourselves and share with others. Our scripture is one that I believe is the one most quoted for the last few weeks. 2 Chronicles 7:14-15 "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and forgive their sins, and will heal their land."
God himself was talking to king Solomon when He said this and He is also saying the same thing to us, His children today. This statement was not to the world then or now but to His people. His Church. Some ask what are we doing that is so wicked? The answer to this question will have to come from our own selves, from within. The statement, wicked ways, says a lot. First the word ways is plural meaning more than one. Did you know the word repent means to turn? Turn from our wicked ways. I would say that we all have things in our lives we need to turn from. The verses talk about humbling ourselves and praying. How do we approach God when we pray? Like He is supposed to be ready at all times just to listen to our requests? Has this person ever heard of fasting or sackcloth and ashes? Of humbling themselves before Almighty God and weep bitterly for their sins. We are the ones seeking God’s favor, not demanding He listens to us. We like to compare ourselves to others, that way we look just fine but compare yourself to God and His Son Jesus Christ and the picture changes drastically. If we want God to forgive us our sins and to heal our land we will have to meet His terms. People today and I am including some who call themselves christians don't want God in their lives. He makes them nervous. They want to feel free to live their lifestyle without interference from God. They have their own gods. How does Jehovah God feel about this? Hear what Jeremiah has to say. Chapter 16:20-21 “Shall a man make gods unto himself, and they are no gods? Therefore behold, I will this once cause them to know. I will cause them to know my hand and my might and they shall know that My name is The Lord."
Let's talk about god's for a moment. We are not necessarily speaking of Baal, Ashtaroth, Dragon, a golden calf or of the many others the people worshipped in Bible times. Anything we place more important than God in our lives can be considered our god's. What do you or I have that if God told us to give away we would have a problem with it, we just couldn't do that. Think about it. It would be more important than God Himself, that would be one of our gods. The first commandment “"Thou shall have no other gods before Me. Me only will you serve." Another problem. Jesus said that the love of money is the root of all evil. So wouldn't you agree that this love would be considered a god to many. The love of and the lust for it makes it a god. What takes up most of our time? Be careful now and honest, many things can be considered a god. God Jehovah claims first place in our lives. Let's make it so and it will be life changing.
Again I ask, is this God's warning shot? Pray with me that God will allow us to experience the greatest pandemic spiritual revival the world has ever witnessed. We can you know, because Jeremiah 33:3 "Call unto Me and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things things which thou knowest not." I believe God is watching and waiting to see what His people are going to do. I pray that we do the right thing so we can see His mighty hand at work. Brothers and sisters let's do our best to turn this awful thing around. Let's follow God's directions and see if things change for the better. This week contact everyone you possibly can and let them know we are having in car services at Cummings Mill Baptist Church and encourage them who don't have services to come worship with us.
